Google made it official that page speed has a direct effect on ranking so here are 4 tips to speed up your WordPress site. Start off by using a good compression tool to optimize all your images – I like to use https://compressor.io/compress. If you have lots of images on your site already https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/ is quite a good option. Once done install the 3 plugins listed below to supercharge your site.
Speed up WordPress Plugins
These are 3 plugins that really work well together to speed up your site.
1. https://wordpress.org/plugins/fast-velocity-minify/ Works out of the box.
2. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/ There are plenty of guides online how to configure it.
3. https://wordpress.org/plugins/a3-lazy-load/ Works out of the box.
If you host a WordPress membership site you may well be using the popular Ultimate Member plugin and chances are if you’ve updated to Version 2 you may be wondering what’s causing the ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS warning. There doesn’t seem to be a one fit suits all solution but it’s worth checking Home isn’t set as the Logout page as that can cause redirects. You can check your settings by going to Dashboard -> Ultimate Member -> Settings -> General. If you find yourself getting a 404 error try logging in via your browser’s Incognito mode.
If you’re having this problem check out this plugin WP-Clear-File-Cache which makes it easy to clear the new file cache on WordPress 4.9. Saves a lot of head scratching.
Nice little WordPress plugin by my mate Huw Rowlands that enables the Magnific Popup image lightbox to work with single images within your posts and pages, gallery images using the built-in WordPress gallery and also WooCommerce product images.
Download it here: IW Magnific Popup
Great work Huw 🙂
